This is the only way I could think of to say how very sad I am. My very special grandmother died this morning.

A woman born so long ago
She's always there, I love her so.
I hold our times together dear
a bright spot through my childhood years.

Such memories of happy days
when going to her house to play.
She'd tell me stories of the past
she brought to me my dreams to last.

I'd sit and swing and listen close
those times are some I treasure most.
She's always there, through thick and thin,
my grandmother, my closest friend.

She cooked a famous apple pie
and crust with sugar baked inside.
She loved to make the sweetest things
she knew about the smiles they'd bring.

This year she will turn ninety four
she's great great Gram to several more.
My own sweet grandchild, loved so much
we now relive the pasts' warm touch.

Oh Sandra, I am so sorry for your loss.  From the tribute poem you have written, she sounds as though she was a wonderful lady and Gram, and I am sure you have many many happy memories to treasure.  Ninety-four...that is a wonderful long and most likely full life.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time my friend.
~Warm comforting hugs, Nancy~

Cat, what a lovely poem of love this was for your Gramma, and my heart truly goes out to you in your loss at this time.  Grammas are very special people and they never go away but are inside all of their children, grandchildren, and their grandchildren.  She will be protecting you and watching over you with that special bond of love you shared always.

With Sincere Sympathy,
Sharon

Oh Sandra I am so very sorry, Grandmas are so very special.. you know this poem is so wonderful. I took one of mine and framed it and put it in a ziplock bag and took it to my sons grave. You may want to do that, Better than those plastic flowers they sell. This is beautiful and I am so sad for you. All my prayers to you. floria

Thank you everyone, for your kindness. I am kind of out of it, and not reading tonight much. She had a framed copy of this poem I gave her last Mothers Day. You know, she was very old,but I still felt shocked, cause I was sure she would live to 100.
Sigh.
Love to you all

I lost both my grandmothers in the same year a while back ... but they're with loved ones gone on before them and they'll all be there waiting for us one day, with a huge group hug

Sandra,
You know how sorry I am for you, and I know how much you loved her, and what a great lady she was.  I am so glad that she was able to see this poem...I told you I always loved it, and I thought it was one of your best. Just know that you were as special to her, as she was to you, and always will be.  She was an angel here on earth, and now she will continue through eternity from above. I've always believed that everyone has a guardian angel, and now your's has a name..... You know I'm always here for you, and I love you....
