I remember we were mischievous
we rang door bells and ran away
you always would get caught
but we always giggled anyway

your kind eyes of hazel..
always gave you away
not a poker face
you loved animals
stray dogs, with you would play

all the family has eyes of blue
i often wondered why
why yours were hazel?
dad looked exactly like you

but for the past thirty years
you have lived in a different world
a world of your own
some may think you are homeless
the way you wander around
finding your way from town to town
in cold weather or rain
as the winds blow
one time you were found
walking barefoot in the snow

two sisters and a brother
we love you so
a devoted mother
a wonderful step father named Joe

no one knows you the way we do
the little boy who was an artist
loved drawing horses
not to mention
your IQ is the highest

i am your oldest sister
you are the second born
i wonder why God chose you?
my brother with hazel eyes, not blue

*inspired by Floria's poem*

"Mistakes are the portals of discovery."

Victoria this is so so heartfelt and lovely, the last verse is my favorite and what a wonderful story. I guess God just wanted him to stand out. floria

(smiles) Awwwwwwww, this is soooooo beautiful, sweet friend, I am the second born in my family out of four children of my mom and dad and I am the only one who has blue eyes, which I got from my dad, while the others are brown eyes! (kiss on cheek) This is soooooo gorgeous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Victoria, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Victoria,

I love this in every way, as I'm sure your brother does also.     I also have hazel eyes, as does every one of my eleven brothers and sisters, which is odd, because my father had blue eyes and my mother, brown. Go figure...LOL!  I hope you'll write more of your brother.  He sounds interesting.

Victoria, this was so beautifully done...it just has that whimper of sadness because your brother is still here but living in a different world.....Maybe he's very happy in that world

I also have hazel eyes...a combination of my Dad's green ones and my Mom's brown ones...except I have a ring of dark bluish grey around the edge of my irises.  My mother said that it took my eyes a long time to change from that newborn baby color, and when they finally did...they never changed all the way out to the edge.  Interestingly, my sister's eyes are totally that color.  In high school, my biology teacher said that it was impossible for two dark eyed people to produce a blue eyed child...but it happened in my family...and we all know that she's ours.....she looks like all of us.
Sorry for rambling...I loved the poem!
