Word Gifts

~*Marge Tindal*~

On this day of gentle remembering
I take out the letters from the chest
and hold them close to mine~

As piece by piece I cherish this journey
through the enveloped-memories
etched in the word gifts from you~

Tears intermingle with fragile smiles
as each delicate phrase brings
a tender moment to caress my heart~

Did you just know that when
the time came and I could no longer
feel the warmth of your hugs
that I would wrap myself in the
comfort of your word gifts~

I think you must have ...
and you would not be disappointed
for your touch from beyond time
has warmed my night~

~Plundering through some precious mementos
Counting my blessings ... knowing they are many
Being ever-so-thankful for the word gifts of the past~

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

Margie girl darling sister of my soul and holder of my hearts song, this darling heart is stunning writing. YOU describe this feeling so well, it aches with the memory of love. It’s sad but I can feel the love flowing through this. YOU as always have excelled yourself again

When the road turns dark and seems too long
When you look inside and can’t find your song
When you need a helping hand along the way
When you are stressed by another bad day
When the sky turns black and it looks like rain
And you can’t move without feeling the pain
I’ll give you my hand when you need it to hold
And I’ll give you my heart to drive away the cold
No fear will stalk you in the darkness of night
No tear will flow when you can’t see the light
When all around you seems simply too much
Reach for me and feel my loving touch

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace Luke 2:79

Marge:  It's always such a bitter-sweet experience, reading the words left to us, by those who have gone on.  Yet, I know you cherish every piece of paper, as I do too. Lovely, poignant poem!

Marge,

As those in our past have left us "word gifts" we are writing them now to be left for the future....your poems will be such a treasure....your heart held by the generations to come....thank you for sharing them while you still walk the journey.

Auntie Margie girl this is beautiful, such a precious gift they have given you, and you’ve returned it to their memory.

Wonderful writing this is something very special and I love it.

This is why you inspire souls

you too have left word gifts on my heart. Are you following a tradition?

*Thank you dear friends~
It is with tenderest thoughts that I read each letter/card/thought/poem written by those in my life ...
and am so thankful that I am the 'packrat' that I am~

I have every *word gift* ever written to me since the age of about seven .... Yeah, I know ... that's a BIG chest of treasures !  But that's okay when one overflowed ... I just got another one~

*Hugs* to you all for the sweet replies~
