Can the day come when I must say
that it is the time to let fly away.
Will I be able to ever so gently push
and watch you go in softest swoosh.

Can the moment of your life then be
not filled with our painful memory?
Can I give you that softest of touch
in spite of how I love you so much?

Can my dove, my bird now soar free?
Free of bonds, yet still ever loving me.
Will I be able to hold and then kiss
her head...as I whisper that she I miss.

Does a bird have to fly to feel love
Can it be so easy for a fragile dove?
Does my soft heart have the toughness
as this love, my dove does egress?

In the heart of a small white dove
lies the remnant of a once true love.
Left inside to let go of the bird’s nest
Knowing in two hearts, it is for the best.

Fly my dove, fly into the bluest sky
Let not a tear shed fall from an eye.
Know that a heart will forever love
cherish and hold my small white dove.

A very touching poem. Sometimes it's so hard to let go. Sometimes it is the best way to show love.

Martie...thank you...yes it could be very
hard...

Maureen...A child....yes...once I had to do
just that...but this is about once long ago.
And a C and W song...can't remember the name
inspired me to write it..

(big hugggssssss) Oh Barry, this poem too brought a tear to my eye, you have such a pure loving heart and I know you'll forever croon like a dove to her just as she will forever be so happy and invite you into her wings of her heart to rest in loves joy forever! (sigh) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is soooooo sensitive and gorgeous! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

Floria...yes and no...I felt these feelings
once with my daughter Sherri...when she first
left home... It is also about a love from
decades ago...and I do mean decades....lots
of them...OH boy...now I am giving away some
of my secrets....I was an incurable romantic
as a teen too...But that wasn't what she
was looking for... Maybe I need to write
a poem about that one....hmmmm???
