Searching Myself

by Michael

Mosses hang, weeping
on ancient oaks,
much as tears,
unable to plummet
and continue their journey of grief.

Breeze-stirred grasses,
dappled in sunlight,
miss the playful feet of children,
this frosty February day.

A woman, humped and bent with age,
walking an old lady walk,
makes her way down the road
to visit her elderly home-bound sister.

A lone pelican
dozes on nearby piling,
patiently awaiting the greening
of now gray salt marshes.

Overhead, a hawk soars
in endless circles,
never flapping wings,
riding currents of air.

A man, going through midlife crisis,
with freshly grown beard
and leather jacket,
revs angry engine of new motorcycle,
in search of his identity.

A poet, in search of his own,
rests in front of fireplace,
enjoying scent of burning wood,
hypnotized
by amber and blue.

Michael

You have looked at these things with a poet's eye...and thus, they come to life.  Beautiful, my friend!  Hugs!

No, Martie, they are life.  This was my day and these people were real.  Thank you. *S*

Noah,
Do you really?  LOL!  Not gonna say, my friend. *S*  Thank you!

Nancy,
Thank you.  Your kind words always mean a great deal to me. *S*

Interloper,
Wow!  Kinda makes me wonder what I'm gonna do for an encore. LOL!  Thank you, much!
*S*

James,
Thank you very much.  It's good to see you here. *S*

Susan,
These images are life, sweetie.  They were taken from my day today.  Each one is real. THe man on the motorcycle really is going through a midlife crisis. LOL!  The old woman really does do a little old lady walk. *S*  I took her in one day during a violent thunderstorm, because she was afraid of the lightning.  She makes the trip every day to see her aging sister.  She's a dear.  *S*
Thank you!

Everyone, thank you very much.  Sometimes when the brain is barren and no images come to mind, all we need do is open our eyes to the many wonderful ones around us.  As you see, the ones here are taken from life.  I hope each of you will consider writing a poem about the images in your own lives.

Hi again, Michael...I knew that they were real..what I meant was that you made them real to me by writing them in the way that you did. Thanks for that.  Hugs!

From the eye of a poet, this is wonderful.  Looking inside of ourselves can be such a hard thing to do, but sometimes so enlightening.  Great work Michael.  Hugs.

Look at you, taking a person's moment and capsulizing it to distinctly....how many more will cross your pen's path...

I would bet you could read into each poet here, and capture a bit of them with that magic pen of yours...

thank you for this one, Michael...

Such beauty to observe in this life, especially in ourselves as we grow and change, and grow restless and seek to understand. Well done. Really enjoyed.
