Passing Through

Barefoot and numb, and cold, I count
the ways I've walked to reach this night.
Across the salt-cleansed cheeks of hopes
gone brown with fruitless faithfulness, between
relentless voices of unmoving expectations that
have managed to outlive the loved throats
of my dead, past the harvests of my uncaring
predilections, over the gouged ground of my
short joys...
Fool!  What voiceless pain my heart squeezes out,
a striated whisper through the parched remnants
of soulchords rusted by mocking time; roilingly,
impatiently, becalmed...then beached like so much
driftwood...
This is all I am; riddled with people once,
alone - at last. Ah, sweet music I claim
from acidly-discordant remonstrance:
of myself, from myself, I am least free.
No poet this, only a sad philosopher toying,
being toyed, by words; fallow, before its time.
All my ghosts, tied one by one into the perfect
knot of guilt by continuing association; a bridge,
a cradle, an empty shell to span darkness and
darkness...
Ah! This night, at least, I can weave despair
into the sometime finality of words; themselves
a burial detail to hasten my vastening --
still I hope! -- or my dissolution.
This night, as in other nights, I writhe and cry;
intent on closure, yet leaving my door open...
and now, just passing...through.

Quiet waters darling heart oh how achingly sad and pain filled this is. You’ve written this so well. Very well written I can hear the pain throbbing in this

This passed through the blue halls like the ghost of write it is, on cold feet, leaving a mist of vaporous chill behind...but too good to languish in the back pages...

You have a gift, to relay pain so well...thank you for sharing this, and I hope to see you write more soon...

sunshine...i thank you for the resonance...often, speech... for me...has been a grope in the dark...so, i thank u, at least, for seeing the pain behind the abstraction...and at most...for knowing what to say...

nakdthoughts...i do not really know if i had imaged the pain i was feeling the way i saw it...what came out when i finished it was still an abstraction...the words still divorced, somehow, from the rawness of that moment when the pain was freshest to me...nevertheless i thank u for leaving a "footstep" behind.  for me, it has never been praise from other wtiters that was my goal..it has always been having enough people say enough of what they see in what i write that gives me the fuel i need..to keep on dreaming...and to continue groping for words to give it appreciable justice...

i thank you...
