A Poet Loves a Poet

A poet loves a poet, for there is a common bond
A ring of words strung round the moon and stars, and far beyond
A thread that wraps around us all and forms a lyric wreath
A mutual ethereal twine of friendship underneath

A poet loves a poet for we’re speaking soul to soul
To pour the contents of life’s cup the single common goal
Whatever in our lives has touched the tender inner parts
Is what is written into verses by our gentle hearts

A poet loves a poet and we recognize the best
The ones whose verses have passed times classic test
But we also recognize the beauty from a word sincere
That flows from pen to paper as a glad or painful tear

A poet loves a poet, for we have a common seed
That blooms within our gardens and our bestows a common need
It’s the beauty of the written word that opens to the sun
It’s the pleasure of velvet rose on paper when we’re done

A poet loves a poet, for our phrases are entwined
In the wreath of written verses, though to one another blind
Yet we gather in a poet’s den, a place where they can share
The passion in our poetry with other spirits there

Our lovely flowers will reappear in springtime’s earthly sod
A poet loves a poet, and all poets loved by God

Yes...when I grow up, I want to be a poet...if nothing more than to stand beside all here....

This is so lovely, and I hope it stays at the top ALL day long...and into the night...

Someday I want to be a poet too Liz.  This is truly truthful and beautiful.  As they say the pen of a poet never dies.  Your pen will shine forever Liz.  Wonderful write.

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

I think you've described the origin of some wonderful friendships as we appreciate each other as well as the words from our pens. *S* This is beautiful, Elizabeth... and flows so smoothly it begs re-reading... just to continue the pleasure. *S* As for the last line... I sure hope so. *S*

Dear Elizabeth, you are a true poet my dear, I truly loved this.

I love to hear the words in rhyme and you that do as I do mine
I love to share as many do, it’s purpose filled and spends the time

So poet thankyou for each word
For poets are the ones preferred

Sincerely Rick
