The Leaves...a condensed biography

Winter's desolate beauty
branches stark with life not yet begun
bold silhouettes against bleak skies
as snowclouds hide the sun

tender newborn greens of spring
virgin buds in prestine birth
symbolizing life anew
arise through fertile earth

summer sprouts burst into lush
warmth ripening to their prime
arboreal green umbrellas
respite from fiery hot sunshine

their lives, like the seasons...ebb and flow
at the peak of autumnal glory
the breathtaking beauty of the leaves
marks the end of their life story

You said this so beutifully Lyra, and those leaves certainly do go out with a trumpet of colors. This is a lovely write and I enjoyed it so much. CONGRATULATIONS, the numbers add up fast don't they? I never look and then one day I look and I say, Oh my gosh, How did that happen? LOL, floria

Floria...thanks so much for the reply and the congrats.....yes it does add up, but I'm still trying to figure out how you managed to reap almost 1000 more posts than I have, and I was here 2 weeks before you were.  I thought I spent a copious amount of time here, but you must be a superfast typist.
Lately, I have been spending a bit less time here and a bit more on my treadmill because the effects of all of this sitting are beginning to show...so if I slow down a bit, thats why.  ((hugss))

Sy...thanks for that lovely reply.  Its really fascinating that leaves die when they are at their peak of beauty.

Noah...thanks for your reply and for always replying to my poems.

Janet Marie...you are a true poet "visually verdant verse"...even your replies are poetic.......and thanks for this one.

Nan...thanks for replying to my poem.  It seems that I have been awfully slow to respond lately because my treadmill has been calling to me....the warm weather is coming soon...maybe sooner this year because of those buds in February

Nancy...thanks for the hugs, the congrats and especially for the reply

Marsha...I almost didn't recognize you without your pink.....thanks so much for your reply :rolling"

Karilea...thank you so much.....but, I don't think I can do 1.8 million more.....now that would be quite a record, wouldn't it.

Dave...thanks for the congrats, and its really good to see you posting here again, we have to get that pizza war started

Lauren...thank you, what a sweet thing to say...I'll have to dream about my "magic pen" tonight.  In truth, I think I probably borrowed it from you.

Newell...thanks so much for your kind reply

Martie...thank you and you are also very welcome.  Isn't it sad that leaves die at the height of their beauty?  I wrote this poem last fall when I was thinking about that

Cpat...thank you for your reply, and I also enjoy reading your work very much...but I still want to know what your name means
