Last Night

I prayed last night
under cover of dark,
wiping smooth the wrinkles
of my life before placing
my head on softer memories.

A prayer for the one in back, of age,
for his health, for his peace of mind.
Told that prayer would ease
the hurt of his words of death to me.

For his son, to not abandon
all that has been given to him,
replaced by the need for drink.

I prayed last night
the first of many prayers to come,
for a sister in wait,
a trade off, death for life,
that can't arrive too soon.

For one brothers strength
and his wife to regain
the power of words
and her function of movement.

I prayed for the loss of family,
togetherness, the unstable condition
intruding, as time ages this mirrored face
and the winter sends returning chills
before the seasons end.

I once abandoned prayer,
never the belief, only the practice
of breaking the silence
of my thoughts each night.

It finally rained last evening,
its sound providing the harmony,
nourishment for the earth,
as my lips let flow the words,
my substance of life.

"For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart.
It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul."
(J.Garland)

nakedthoughts,
this is a prayer, a plea and a smooth melody all in one.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

nakdthoughts - pray every night, it does work. I'm still here because of praying each night before sleep. I understand your thoughts and wish you the best...

Maureen, prayer is wonderful. I love to pray and pray often. And you and many of my dear friends at Passions are often in my prayers. Just wanted you to know.
Love,
((Maureen))

I am touched by your every word Dear Heart.
Seek and we shall find?
There is so much peacefulness in this poem, and for that I thank you.
