Midlife Romance

Midlife romance
second time around
our heads are in the clouds
our feet are on the ground

a grandma and a grandpa
silver in our hair
a glimmer in our eyes
tenderness to share

midlife romance
we took another chance
old enough for wisdom
young enough to dance

a grandma and a grandpa
our salad days are past
seasoned by the years
we know that life goes fast

midlife romance
a gift for two to share
this grandma and this grandpa
we make a perfect pair

Nancy...Yes it is wonderful isn't it.  When we are older, we have so many more experiences on which to fall back.  This gives us a lot more depth and a lot more character.  We also have (hopefully) by this time, developed better judgement than when we were younger.  I consider myself to be extremely lucky to have found David when I did.  My son's funeral was on our first monthaversary.....I honestly don't know how I could have gotten through that without him.  He also took care of the rest of the family.  He was wonderful!!!!!!!!! I would never have chosen that as a way to bond, but unfortunately, thats the way it happened. ((hugs))

This is wonderful!!! So wonderful that I can see everyone divorcing their first spouse just to experience this joy. I wish I could say that this poem relates to my life now, it doesn't. But you never know what the future holds. Someday, I just may meet him.

Dear Madame:
I am with Ms Poet and that this is delightful.  When the time comes, or should I say when I meet him, I hope it will be as wonderful and the words written above.

PDV, I'm glad you enjoyed the poem!  I thought it had a similar theme to the one you wrote.  But, I hope it doesn't make everyone divorce their first husband just to experience this joy.
I actually didn't have to divorce my first husband...he died almost 3 years ago...and then about 13 months later, I met David...
We just got married this past October
I hope that you also find someone wonderful!
