It was in the way he loved me
without a single spoken word
deaf became blind, I couldn’t see
though I reached out, Braille can’t be heard

I waited for his affection
to find a voice beyond his eyes
not such an old fashioned notion
to love someone with out disguise

I didn’t ask for poetry
I didn’t ask for his adore
I just wanted him to tell me
of his love for me, nothing more

He could only love, physically
that just wasn’t enough for me

Beautiful!
Without the mind and soul the body wants

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

(sad sigh) Oh Susan, this is so sad but beautiful, my heart goes out to your emptiness and I hope now you have found true love that has brought happiness to your heart and has felt for you sincerely and lovingly that you deserve so much! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is gorgeous! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Susan, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

There is more to loving than the physical need,
and I believe the emotional kind of love is what forms a lasting bond.
Love is a tender heart not a cold stone to be tossed around.
Wonderful poem, I hear you SEA!

Wonderful Sue!  It really can't work out for long if the person is only wanted for their body...then what?  There is so much more...much more...
I think Interloper said it best..*see above*
I enjoyed this piece so much.

Circe darling girl, you know exactly what I’m going to say about this it’s spectacular. TRULY PERFECTION, never has this been said better. I know this well, it’s not just physical, real love is a meshing of two spirits. I unification of two to become one.

Physical is good, spirit is excellent, when the two combine that is perfect love.

Fabulous writing darling girl utterly utterly fabulous

For want of more
than your mere touch
i found out love
can mean so much

Very well put SEA... part of that understanding comes with age and realizing there is not enough physical contact in the world to satisfy the soul as well as the body...

Shows that, indeed, love is more than the body.   It is the soul.

Thank you.

Ah, my friend, you've definitely put a slice of all too true life in a beautifully sad way.  I feel sorry for those like "him" that only know the fringes of love.  Me thinks maybe, even if only for awhile, physical love is so enchanced when riding on the slipstream of emotion.

The physical is good, but I always tried to "love" what I "touched", before touching -
it was so much more wonderful for both that way - fleeting as it may have been. But then I never kissed a girl on the first date, either...or the second. By the time the third rolled around, if it came, our feelings had warmed considerably, and all else just fell into place.

Very well written Sea.

Does the feel of love not feel
as soft as the words spoken real
Does a heart yearn passionately more
as he stops, turns, and shuts the door

Do the eyes say of love more than felt
of feelings unsaid in the cards dealt
Of moments when just whispers would
feel so much more than physical could

Lots of meaning in this poem Sue....I hope
you have it all...

Susan - So sad.  You sucked me in with the first stanza and I hung on each word until the end.  One of your best for sure.
