A State of Disarray

0 posted 2002-02-24 10:11 PM

Impending doom
The time had come
Swallowing fear
Held out his hand
She pursed her lips
He knew she would
And tensely reached
To touch him.

He pulled her close
Hand at her back
She lifted her arm
To drape his neck
The teardrop fell
And stained his shirt
He held her quiet
With feathery grip.

He felt her shake
And closed his eyes
While she tapped her teeth
They both knew why
He never said
Just held her there
His shirt was drenched
He didn't care.

To touch
To feel
So long
In need
He came
And held her
In time
To breathe.

There is something about that first dance.  Very much enjoyed this poem!
