Heart hidden
in plain view
ignoring that
it belongs to you

Vision blurred
from tears I wouldn’t cry
feelings couldn’t be expressed
until my cheeks were dry

Pen searched for words
pieces of my soul
hoping to find some part of heart
that you gently stole

It wasn’t in the words wrote down
it was the words thrown away
it wasn’t in the poetry
it was what I didn’t say…..

Regrets SEA?
isn't that always the way...but you said enough in this write.

The last four lines say it all...and what I would like to say is...look at how far you've come? With your imagery, your finding just the right photo to insert with your words, the total circle you've made from a reader to a writer...

I am so very proud of you!

So beautifully sad ... stayed and read it over again to be sure ... hope things work out

"It wasn’t in the words wrote down

The depth of emotion flows clearly through this beautiful phrasing Susan. A lovely piece indeed!

Best wishes,

That is so true! in what we refuse to say out of pride ends up being our greatest regrets don't they? Even those things left unsaid that would shed the light of truth and allow a heart to heal...very well said SEA!

why is it always what we didn't (or don't) say that gets paid attention to??

well. . .perhaps that's another poem. . .

well done here. . .flowing and feeling. . .

Poets need not worry about running out of ink ... as they always have their tears to pen with and that always makes for good poetry.  Much enjoyed.

Very beautifully and sincerely written.  There are so many times that I wish I would have spoken up.  But I guess we all live and learn.  Wonderfully done.
