Selfishly
with out thought
of self
careful placement
heart on shelf
for so many years
through unrequited
hidden tears
gave to a fault
fault her own
(at the time
it was unknown)
never now
not even then
would she be
more than friend
and still she loved
while letting go
wishing only
that he could know
no longer does
she sit and cry
no more endless
wondering ‘why’
just “I love you
my friend…..good~bye"

I don't know a more painful letting go than this.  From either side.  You have helped me to sleep tonight, whether you understand why or not.  And once, just for you...I sigh.

Susan,
Closure...perhaps. But a painful reflection, even for me.

Sea, I so hate good-byes...and letting go is SOOO hard. This is a wonderful write! Wish I had the words to describe it!

Susan,

I have to tell you, this broke my heart because I've been and even now am, exactly where the character in this poem is.  This truly dove too deeply into my most hidden feelings.  When you can do that, when you can touch a person this personally, please know that you certainly are a poet, my friend. *hugs* and a kotc

Susan,

"neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. NIV Romans 8:39."

Only with the Love of Christ deep in our hearts will we be able to find peaceful release of pain, without losing the wonder of love.

A wonderful tribute SEA...I was struck by three readings how this could be for a friend, a lover, a child, a parent...

you are becoming all encompassing in your writings...

tell Jezzie she will do well to follow your examples...this is a glorious write...

It really hurts to let go and you've written about it so beautifully. Thanks for the wonderful, intense read.

Circe darling girl this is soooooooo incredibly well written, letting go is never easy and this is a stunningly good write.

As always the flow is divine and the structure is flawless, I doubt if you could write a bad poem if you tried. Wonderful utterly wonderful work simply the best.

Susan,

Beautiful poem you have here SEA-girl.
This brought a few tears to my eyes
and touched my heart greatly. You always
write with an amazing gift of awe and
grace...just wanted you to  know I admire
your work greatly...i think i've said that
to you once or twice before but nothing
wrong with a little confirmation now
and again. take care hon.

Sea - To love and not to have that same feeling returned is very painful.  Nicely done.

Sea:  Goodbyes with an I Love You attached are perhaps the hardest
to repudiate.  How can one argue with that phrase?  If the love was there, enuff
to say goodbye, it can't be talked back into staying.  It is simply the way it must
be.  Can you hear me talking myself into it?

singularly finite writing; the only way this could have been presented,
and you were the Presenter of verity.

Okay you got me back big time with this one, you could have had a hankie alert at the top.  You captured the intensity of the pain exactly how it feels.  Great poem Sea.

There are so many difficult choices in life, and letting go of a love that we want so desperately to hold on to is perhaps the hardest of all.
Oh SEA, I love the way your heart writes.

Sea,

One thing I learned about letting go is that 'goodbye' is not always forever.  This is a wonderful poem.  I enjoyed it very much. I also like the graphic.
