Listening to every heart

Willow Wind Dance

            ~*~

On the pond
reeds of cat tail dry
brown seed gone to fluff
left to wind
there, ice is shimmering
crusting pond,
trapped life below
still come, still winter day

Willow bare
lowering fingers of limb to earth
draping over in exhausted slumber
sleep, Willow, sleep

Hibernation of gray
cooled sun’s rays
wait, wait, wait for new day
shhh, wait…  wait…  wait…

On the pond
winds shift
blue ice cracks in deepening chill
white graces Willow, now
in slumber’s resting grace
at peace, at peace,
long night shivering

Now read slow,
as that is
how the day
shall glow

For time shall pass
winds shall howl
wolves shall prowl
deer shall travel by
owl will grace
long night’s sky

All will come about
in His good time,
season to season
to give rhythm to rhyme

First sign of warm
comes from rays of morn
Willow feels the blood of life
course and course through her veins
and slowly beckons life to spring
from pond, slowly fingering
lowered limbs
come…
     come…
          come…

Pond awakens
life begins to croak alive
Cardinal sits among Willow’s branch
singing song of wake,
trilling song of life
warbling song of love

Inviting bluebird to come
join
colors Willow bright
reds and blues

Willow pushes forth her dress
of slender yellow-green lacy skirt
soft spring winds come to claim
first dance of Willow’s spring

Dance, Willow, Dance

Shift in wind of spring
beckon hearts to sing
while all to wear fresh green
to visit oft pond’s scene

Capturing the Willow Wind Dance

Oh my goodness what a beautiful poem.

I'm looking at such a willowtree through my front window, thought I had a pic of it in my computer, but I think it is in the one upstairs.

I just love willowtrees.

Hi Kari this is Krissy (Mushy’s daughter). Mum said you were a talented writer and she’s not often wrong about that. Actually truth to tell I have been reading your poems for a couple of weeks now, and I agree with her, which obviously goes to prove we both have great taste. wide grin

You have written this beautifully, this has the flow of water over glass, as smooth as silk. YOU really are an exceptional writer. I’ll look forward to leaving little bon mots on your posts. Mum told me you were learning French it’s okay I don’t speak a lot of French. Or the French I do know isn’t going to get me very far, well not on a poetry site it won’t anyway. wicked grin

Karilea, I am enjoying your willow poems tonight.  Both quite beautiful.  I think the willow has to be one of my favouite trees...

Kari darling sister of my soul Oh my I’m stunned with admiration this has got to be one of you utter utter best. Truly the line and flow in this is absolutely excellent.

I can actually feel the willow moving, this is utterly utterly wonderful

How do you manage to do these so well darling girl? Truly awesome writing. You are always a fabulous writer, in this you have excelled yourself. If you keep writing like this I shall start running out of superlatives and that would never do would it?

As for Krissy well you know, she loves to read you and has wanted to drop little notes on you for a few weeks now. She doesn’t write anything at all, but she says, and I agree with her, that all writers need readers. She’ll simply read and comment, but not on mine, for one, I’m not having the babe who’s nappies I changed and who I brought into this world telling me what she does or doesn’t like about my writing. And besides it’s a waste of time she can just tell me, I won’t take any notice mind but she can just tell me.

Fancy the little madam getting all cock a hoop over the fact she got to comment before me, cheeky mare, if she were several years younger I’d make her sorry, I’m not sure how I was never good at doing the stern parent bit

Anyway this is a fabulous piece of writing absolutely fabulous

Karilea - Beautiful writing.  You definitely captured the Willow's Dance perfectly in this poem.
