Gone, with no goodbye.
Young wife with child, left to cry.
Daniel cries out, why?

Quote from Mrs. Daniel Pearl:
``It is far more valuable in my opinion to address this problem of terrorism with enough honesty to question our own responsibility as nations and as individuals for the rise of terrorism,'' she said.
Pearl said she hoped she ``will be able to tell our son that his father carried the flag to end terrorism, raising an unprecedented demand among
people from all countries not for revenge but for the values we all share:
love, compassion, friendship and citizenship
far transcending the so-called clash of civilizations.''

Thank you for taking time to read.
Heng, this is just my way of expressing the hurt, outrage, anger and sadness over the brutal senseless execution of journalist Daniel Perl, by Pakistani terrorists....and  all the senseless killings that go on year after year in the name of someone's idea of a 'holy' war. If I were God, I'd be looking for another species to replace this one.

Kacy I think we were on the same wavelength, feeling so frustrated and sad about this. It's good so many people care, though.
Lets just have a toast to Daniel, in the name of peace, and pray that someday it comes true.

The outpour of depth in so few words.  Thank you for your heart speak. So senseless, so disturbing.

Sincerely,
Regina

Heng, you're more than welcome. It really is another sad note in man's history.
Magnus, and Regina, thank you for sharing this goodbye moment. It seems as if we keep saying goodbye too soon to so many innocent and wonderful people lately, far too often.

This is brilliantly written... so few words tell such a heartbreaking story. For many years, my sister was a journalist... after a mugging, she switched to teaching... even though that meant a cut in pay coupled with a need for more education. She still may be speaking truths where no one listens (and 5th graders wield their own version of terror *S*) but she's home with her kids at night... something Danny Pearl will never know.

Suthern, you really hit it with that last line. FYI, in high school, I wrote for two newspapers, and was preparing through journalism courses and foreign languages to accept a job as a foreign corespondent. I had several offers, but came to the conclusion I wasn't a strong enough personality to "get in people's face" as a career. I was too shy and timid, even though I had the talent and ability. I chose another pathway. In college, I joined the Peace Corps, and was headed for North Africa when I changed my mind and decided to work with handicapped and schizophrenic children in California instead. (I had already spent a year overseas at that point in time.) What a change of plans. But had I chosen the other roads, I might not even be alive today. It is a sad commentary that a person choosing journalism often chooses a very dangerous road. Daniel Pearl seems to have been a gentle soul whose goal was to present all side of the truth. One should not have to die violently just to bring truth to the public's eyes. And yes, 5th graders can sometimes act like terrorists. But what a great, honorable profession!

That makes two of us, Midnitesun...After my Cambridge 'A' levels, i successfully enrolled in Mass Communications at a university in my country..then i decided that i should try to lessen my family's burden and signed up for a teaching scholarship(which i got, by the way)

well, i don't know whether i would have the talent and ability as a journalist but i did wonder if i was tough enough to deal with the trials of a journalist...

Kacy~

I was so sad from this, not the words, but what happened...the words too, you know what I mean....I can not imagen being that pregnant and knowing my husband was about to die, then having the tape released of his death, so sad by this, its heart breakin what people can do to other people....war has always been among us, but they have made this so more then personal to the US....I pray I will see peace in my lifetime, I pray I will rasie my kids good enough so they will hopefully never experience anything like this....I pray that one day all nations will come together and be as one....sadly i also know it wont happen....ok I ramble...PEACE to you for this....and God Bless his family....I hope all this makes sense....

Lauren~

Step through the
barrier of my mind,
enter my soul,
feel my desire,
let my eyes guide you
into the shadows
of my heart

Heng, this world needs good teachers, such as yourself.
Lauren, hugs to you and yours, and may peaceful thoughts always surround you.
Victoria, thank you so much, for caring.
