A dark Poem (Not a Sonnet! I forgot a quatrain.)

"May its morning stars become dark; may it wait for daylight in vain and not see the first rays of dawn, " NIV Job 3:9

Why I do I always feel my very best?
In deepest darkness my soul is at rest
No love; no company, where nothing's said
No spark, no life I love just being dead.

For I'm afraid of light. It makes me think
And see the sorrow. feel all pain, and stink
So let me run, hide from reality
As if I were never born, just no me.

I do no harm when I escape to gloom
And sit alone within my little tomb
For what have I to offer God in light?
Best, hide away and sleep in perfect night.

Then when infinity I do not see
I'll just be gone, there never was a me.

You've written gloom with the same passion and talent as you write hope!

A very well written Dark piece,
Quoting from Job always adds to a dark piece,
Since he was the greatest suffering Human.
Enjoyed.
Glad my meager talents could inspire.

Duncan, I just write whatever is in my soul. And it's true that gloom is the antithesis of hope. Of course, I know that all gloom must do to see hope is to turn around. And when we see hope, if we turn around we will see gloom. Both are simply human mirrors of expectation.

Gloom, thank you for your compliment. It is indeed a high honor as you are the premier author of 'gloom' poetry.

Yes, no human being, except Christ, has ever suffered more than Job. But suffering is simply a way to prepare us to receive God's deepest gifts of Love. Without thirst how could a drink satisfy?
