Weaned too soon
from warm salt seas
early spring April Dawn, my last baby.
We knew this together: weeks of warm motion
in friendly waters; and sudden crushing pain
that swept us past each other until
you were on the other side.

You couldn’t grow old
enough to take a breath.

The waves of storm cast you too far,
tiny girl with eyes closed against this
alien world, lost in your own universe;
silently living your enormous death
lying still in my hands.

The only sands were
swimming in my eyes.
There were no cries;
no gasp but my own,
as you left me alone.

Rosemary

I'm so glad to see you!  Your poetry always tugs at my heart...how sad to have waited for life that never breathed, yet wonderful too, for the love that was there took your heart anyway.  Hugs!

OH MY GOODNESS!!

ARE YOU BACK?? OF COURSE YOU ARE!! BUT I MEAN FROM NOW ON? ***Jenn gives you a hug that could leave you needing breath*** OMG! I HAVE MISSED YOU AND YOUR WORK, LADY!

And this poem..is as wonderful as all your work ever was. I love it. Its truly good to see you here.

For all who watch.Dare you say hello? Come in and ask the questions that are on your mind, but spare me your judgement until you truly sipped of me.

A sad poem, true, but it ends with a smile at seeing you back home.
