The Shores of Alone

Dedicated to Daniel Pearl, his Wife and unborn baby

Just tuned in to a tv show
hoping something would cheer me so
Instead a special report came
full of bad news, always the same.

They say the journalist is dead
I guess I knew it in my head
But still I could not help but cry
and ask again, the question WHY??

This man was doing nothing wrong
just seeking truth, as all along
And now a wife is left to grieve,
and baby who will never see.

Though I did not know you at all
I'm sorry Daniel,for your fall.
and pray that you find truth at last
As on to heaven, you have passed.

Sad to read the news today
This world is getting strange day by day
Where once was love and laughter
are now sad news one day after another
However so, I loved you piece
May your world bring forever peace

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Sandra, this is so very sad, it breaks my heart to see such cruelty and loss of peace happen in the world each day, I just wish we could simply love one another! (big hugggssssss) My heart and prayers go out to him and his family, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a loving and compassionate heart, sweet Sandra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Sandra, your poem was the first I had heard this news.  This is terrible.  It is a very sad day when we here at Passions have yet another reason to post unhappy reports.  Perhaps one day things will be better and safer and....yes happier...somewhere in time.

I heard the news in much the same way and as you said, though I knew it already in my head, I'd really hoped it would end differently.  You've got the heart to write this, Sandra.  Thank you.

catalinamoon - I also heard the news about this. Very sad, and no need for this wrong. I don't want to continue the reply, as I might say something not quite right about this, so I'll stop...

I agree, Sandra. We look for sense in the senselessness of war and violence and, of course, we don't find it. As always, the innocents suffer....

Sorry to hear this bad news...add this country to the list of unsafe places for American journalist or tourists...
A Philippine friend at work usually visits his home country about once a year but he has delayed his visits because of all the unrest in that country...when I went to Germany some years ago as a member of the Air Force Reserve they wouldn't give us permission to travel to Paris because of unsafe conditions...instead we traveled to Amsterdam which at that time was considered safe....the world is becoming more dangerous and Americans need to use wisdom while traveling...James

Tragically we will never learn until it is too late.

I had not heard the news, but my prayers go out to those left behind.

Well expressed.

Sadly, freedom sometimes carries a very high
price...and he was doing just that...trying
to ensure we had our journalistic freedom.
Great courage and sacrifice...Thank you

It is heartbreaking and barbaric what happened to this young, innocent man. And how very, very sad for his wife and unborn baby son. May God grant them peace and some sense of understanding. Thank you for writing this tribute.  Marti

Catalina,
You wrote this very well, and I'm glad you posted it.  I'm sorry for all the innocents who get caught up in the evils of this world. It's senseless, and that makes it even worse.

Will insanity ever stop?

How many Hitlers, Bin Ladens and more of those guys will be born in future and cause pain to so many innocent people.

What went wrong with this world

Sandra, I did not read this until now, after posting my goodbye to Daniel. It really is tragic, and I'm not sure I can absorb anymore news reports this week. Hugs to you for a tender write.
