The Lady in the Island - A Sonnet for my daughter, Kathleen

O come to me; She sings in melodies
Flowing sweetly over meadows and trails
She's calling me to join her ecstasies
Come in my sunshine; drift my windblown sails.

I have all things of mystery; it's true
My leprechauns will take good care of you
My whiskey is the finest drinking brew
Come dance with dames they'll show you what to do.

So don your costume, for my little ball
And sing a song to Kathleen in her green
And Danny Boy will greet you one and all
A finer time you'll swear you've never seen.

Love ev'rywhere you go; so sweetly calls
Awaiting soon to cover you with dreams
Lady in The Island, calls one and all
Come in and love on my sweet shores, serene.

A place of happiness for girls and boys
So come and share in Ireland's finest joys.

The Lady in the Island beckons you.

Loved this Irish flavored poem.  I like the Irish  and learning about Ireland.  Seeing that I am a wee bit Irish myself.  ***Ivy Rose

Thank you, Ivy. This time of year I believe that we all become Irish. And boy isn't that a lot of fun.

How nice Newell, an Irish poem, and a lovely write to your daughter.

Thank you, Sandra. Yes, I started this one to meet your challenge, but detoured when I thought of Kathleen. I wanted it to be special for her. I thought that you would understand. And so I then I wrote the other quickee on Saint Patrick for you. Was that ok?

Thank you, Lauren. Daughters are very, very special. They should always be cherished. I have three daughters and they are like all three pure gold in my treasury of love.
