Dedicated to my Aunt Jenny

My Aunt, My Friend

For all the times you made me stand tall
when life deemed I had no worth.
For all the years I was your cherished one
in your embrace of laughter's serendipity.
And for all the moments
my glory danced with yours in truth's prevail,
I thank you.

For all the days and ways
you emblazoned yourself across my heart
and held it until it's weep became smiles
in the comfort of understanding,
I thank you.

But, above all,
for the times you saw the world through my eyes
and ached with me
yet, you still had the strength to give me your wings.
For all this, I love you
my aunt, my friend

Lovely, and the sentiment behind it even more so. It's good to appreciate the few special people in our lives.

Darn she took the words right out of my mouth, as if I were here this would be the most valuable gift I would ever receive.  Nicely done Melissa.

Melissa, this is truly beautiful! I have an aunt that is every bit of this that you wrote about, and you sure did a wonderful job in thanking her. This is great! It looks like we are fortunate to have an aunt so loved in our lives. I really loved this poem! Oh, the part for constructive critiques that you filled out is so funny! LOL.
