I waited

Anticipating the welcome warm
Slide of tongue

The silken touch of skin

And night fell
With shadows slow advance
Across satin sheets
So carefully scented
For love

Reaching final waxing hours
Pillow cradled instead of you

I slept in fitful dream
Of younger days
Sated with naked sun
And tastes of love
Mingled with smells
Of lustful joining

To wake to mourning’s coffee
Brewing
