I was last
In the line of mourners
To lay the rose on coffin lid
Now covering your face,
Hiding from the world
Waxen image that mocked
With no regard the smiles
You so often shared.

I was last
So lingered just a while
Admiring the view
Knowing you too
Would have paused
Had it been I

SO good to see you here again. And a sad return it is. This touches me deeply. Well done.

Cpat,

It's good to see your name again I'm sorry however that the poem is so painful

Hugs,
Tara

Thanks Tara...
Not perhaps as painful as it sounds... life is a cycle and at the end of its part here, is a passing. This just marked another passing.

Thank You Sunshine...
I do not know if it a short visit or a prolonged stay as of yet, but it has been nice to read today and see that so many of the wonderful poets are still here...and still as talented as ever.

Hello Cpat!  So nice to see you here again!
I enjoyed the read and even smiled ever so slightly at the ending, as I thought it a nice tender gesture to pause for awhile to pay respect to the deceased.  Hope you stick around awhile!
