Safe Harbor

by Michael

When I return to the coast,
there, my healing
will begin.

I'll sit in the damp sand
and let the hot summer sun
bleach highlights into my hair,
brown and turn my skin to leather.

Warm, salt waters
will draw the pain
from my being,
soothe
this tormented body.

I'll bring bread
to feed seagulls
and watch as they fight
over each piece.

I'll delight,
as children laugh and play
in the tidal pools,
splashing one another
and enjoying their precious youth.

I will paint pictures
of lovely women,

the seashore,

sailboats,
as they do battle
with the strong Atlantic currents,
heading inland to the salt marshes
and a safe harbor.

Somehow, I know
that I will also find
a safe harbor.

A place where I can rest,
share what it is
that still thrives in me,
where I am at last welcome.
A place where I might heal.

I know now
that this tortured body
will never heal,
but the gentle spirit
that limps within it

must.

Some evening,
as I sit and look upon the moon and stars
reflecting in the dark waters,
perhaps I'll even find a cure for this

devastating loneliness.

Michael,

Hold on to that hope and know that people love you. I care about you my friend, and I will always be here to help chase away the loneliness.

Hugs,
Tara

Michael, as I read this peace full of longing and hope, all I could think of as I pictured the ocean, the gulls, you painting, was....
MICHAEL, TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!
I need to find a place like this for myself to rejuvenate, and get the wind back into my sails. Yes, a 'safe harbor.'
Enjoyed Michael.

Oh Michael, it seems that pain is always with you. I wish it would leave forever. I know the ocean will always help my spirit, and I know it does yours. Is your bird friend still about?
Take care.
