In quiet hours of cold
and colder
spell winds
powder up
and capture starlight
casting the most beautiful
blue silver glow

It is the magic
within this hills
where leftover sun rays
were closed on too soon
overcome by the fullness
of the moon
becoming trapped in the hollows
of these long lonely roads

When the fingers start silking
in around the windows
painting the hardwood floors
into a stage for dance and romance

the voice I love to hear
the perfect tune for me
that seems to meld
with the age old molasses soul
of a blue winter’s firenight
Etta James...At Last

indeed At last, as arms grace
in outward trace
of a loved one’s shoulder
a perfect night, perfect time
to surrender
becoming slight
as a perfumed scarf draped
round his neck

swaying in pewter shadows
where feet never touch the ground

Wonderful!! The ageless tune At Last is one of my favourites, as now this poem just has to be. hugs, Chris

Hello Regina

Your words of love and romance always sweep me off the feet and lift my spirit.  This would have to be one of my favourites.

Take care......Sue

Still as lovely as ever I see....

Would that words
were like the last rose
lain in heaps on coffin
as each passing offers up
with a symbol red
a bit of their own
souls flesh,
held in reverence
highly to those
whose ears are dead

nice to read you again my friend...

I adore each of you and so sorry I can't reply one on one...I am so far behind in your work as I write this. Just know that I have so much to share..and so glad you do the same with me. My heartsongs would just fall on deaf ears if not for each. Yes..Etta is At Last and more..I love to sing that song. Love and Hugs to all..

Peace and Poetry!

Sincerely,
Regina
