The Shores of Alone

Dedicated to every cowboy I have known.

A Cowboy's heart is hidden well
for legend says it's not the thing
to show true feelings, weak with love
to women, he will never cling.

He has been known to push away
a love that warms his heart too well
and rather than accept the risk
he banishes himself to hell.

Yet underneath his heart of steel
is softness begging to come out
though fiercely fight, his lady must
to overcome his shadowed doubt.

A Cowboy's boots will always stand
just waiting for the chance to roam
But on occasion, they must lie
under the bed he now calls home.

You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sandra, thank you for sharing!

Sandra darling girl I suppose you think that I’m going to praise you to the skies? Hmmm? …….. Well, of course I am, this is utterly utterly wonderful as YOU very well know.

You don’t get many cowboys in England, is this a good thing? Possibly they wouldn’t have far enough to roam, and English cows you know are very much dairy herds. Do cowboys do milking duties? I can’t quite see them doing that. As always darling girl this is wonderful.

Absolutely first class writing

That roaming thing kinda loses it's appeal after awhile.  When it does, good to know there's someplace to rest the boots!

Sandra, this wonderfully creative. I do believe most girls love Cowboys, deep down in their pretty hearts. I know that I sure do love Cowgirls! And love to sit on the porch of an old ranch house and strum my  Spanish Guitar, and sing, "Home, home on the range" and other songs. Thanks for sharing.

Sandra, I love this!  Having married my own cowboy, I can't agree more with what you've written.  Underneath the tough exterior lies the sweetest man.
