The sailing boats in the harbour
bob up and down like corks in the water
Their masts sway from side to side
reminding me of a conductor
commanding his orchestra

Many hours I spend here
admiring these pristine waters
as I sit here surrounded
by my feathered friends
the seagulls

Ocassionally I will see a cormorant
atop a water pilon with his
wings outstretched as if
airing his laundry

A scene ever changing
yet always affording so much
beauty and wonder
A place for poets
a place for painters
a place for families
a place for lovers

This is where I come
to collect my thoughts
and where I draw a lot
of my inspiration
I come here alone
yet I am never lonely
in this place of perfect peacefulness

People walk back and forth
along the expanse of the jetty
I see them from where I sit
and sometimes I walk there too
but not this day

For now I'll make the most of
this glorious Summer's day
as I soak up the rays of the sun
These images are certainly priceless
and will be forever stored
inside the picturebook within my mind

YAY!!! Ooohhhhhh...I am so lucky too I got to see the ocean last year, I went to Oregon in the summer and then at Thanksgiving I was near the Atlantic coast, the harbors are always such a lovely sight to behold! (kiss on cheek) This is sooooo lovely, sweet friend, we all love you so much, may we forever soak up the sun with love! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Nothing is more relaxing than sitting by water...well, now, someone will prove me wrong, but it is one of the more relaxing things that I can relate to...

well done, Sue!

Sue; Thank you for this picturesque view of the ocean and harbor.  I would love to travel to your country one day.  I felt like you gave me that opportunity (in a small way) by reading your lovely poem.  Well written.  Wanda
