Know Me You would surely know me For there be thy looking glass As I stand still in your past For you would surely know me… There I walked, in light of dawn And there was I, a past, leaned on ~ Did you feel soft breezes fly? Escaped delight, there, in your sigh… You would surely know me For I be the liquid in your soul And your green in grassy knoll For you would surely know me… And when you thought to be alone I was your ever-steady stone The lady’s gift behind your lift As time’s tender words would sift… You would surely know me ‘Twas I the lady in your dawn Seek thee noir for night’s dream gone For you would surely know me… I was your child in flowered field Then the lady that gave you yield Through thy decades I’ve cast light Giving reason for heightened flight… You would surely know me In gentle laughing emerald eye In poetic form, a lovesome cry, For you would surely know me… I am the palm that holds your hand Then the pen that feels your stand ‘Twould be soft pillow for thy dream Thus the reason for eye’s gleam… You would surely know me In the water’s falling veil Amid the gloam across the pale For you would surely know me… For I am the love that you endure A never-ending feel of sure To be your cause for every race Then cause the smile upon your face You would surely know me In white array of decades’ mist In dark surrender of poet’s kiss For you have surely known me. 18 February 2002 KRJ |
