The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2002-02-18 10:43 AM

Who is this woman, living here,
confused, alone, and always cold?
She used to hold a heart so warm
but now she feels used up and old.

She looks at her reflection long
and truly does not recognize
she feels so changed, it is a curse
her spirit feels awash in lies.

There was a day she felt such hope
and love for all that she would know
over the years something has died
she longs for times of long ago.

A yearning for her innocence
and future yet to be destroyed
now life is sinking all around
She's falling fast into the void.

Who is she then, this weakened soul
and shall she live to someday see
a little touch of happiness?
Oh no-this hollow shell is me!

Sandra...in your poetry is a much more loved
and beautiful woman...  looking back out of
the page ...your reflection...

Sandra,

Who is she then, this weakened soul
and shall she live to someday see
a little touch of happiness?
Oh no-this hollow shell is me!

==========================================

Who is this woman that I see
Looking in her mirror
At destiny
Why does she think she sees a mess?
Why?
Searching happiness, in her mirror
Why does she fear?
Why not cheer?

How can she know the truth, I see
I see her now, glowing
especially
I see her shine radiantly
Fair
Looking beautifully, over there
she is so pretty!
This I see

If only she would look to me
and find God's purest love
eternally
For needless worry, all that fear
Wrong!
Only come from broken mirrors
Look away! Come! See!
Your beauty!

Look in my mirror.

Sandra, I think you are beautiful!

Sandra, this is beautiful..from your heart...

Your poetry is so emotionally open and real, Sandra.  Someday you'll look in that mirror and see what so many of us here see in you.

I don't always like what is
reflecting back at me, I like to think it
is just the distortion in the mirror.

Hold tightly to all the good in you,
it is not healthy to let someone destroy
our spirit.  *hugs*

there's more inside of you than meets the eye. . . I know. . .

good image here. . . makes the poem work. . .

Catalina , this is simply wonderful.
"Oh no-this hollow shell is me!"
Great writing, you know when I read your poems it is like a dominoe effect. Read the first word and then it all falls together, such flow. floria

Sandra - I believe that we all have felt this way at one time or another in our lives. Not knowing the person staring back at us from the mirror. Especially as time slips away. Bravo! Well written. Chris

Sandra; We would all love to love in a mirror and see a reflection of what we saw many years prior.  Actually, I would love to see a beautiful blond, size 3, etc.:-)  But, there are all kinds of beauty, thankfully.  There is so much beauty in your writing, and there is inner beauty that comes out in in the things you do and say. Best wishes.  Wanda

You write the empty reflection so well...I've been there. This touches those memories. I don't know when or how..but the real me started to appear a little more each day. I guess when I started looking at her. We see you Lady. And you're no empty shell.
Hugs!

Regina

How true, sometimes we look inside ourselves and see nothing there. I hope that moment didn’t last long Sandra, for there is a large heart in you that will be filled again.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
