As sonnets set aflame their muses bloom
and hyperbolic bursts dull nature's light,
their cheek checked toungue'd reference that perfume
lacks luster in the air of whom they write
impugns untutored hearts entombed in night,
ungraced by Lydia's proximity
whose silent, subtle beauty's sublime's height,
supplies to tired rooms oximetry
and freshness in an anonymity,
which begs upon our notice of it's blanks
such quiet grace as magnanimity,
a share'd silence for which we give thanks,
whose doe-eyed alabaster supple form
proves truth lies in the beauty of the norm.

Your poetry has an oxygenating effect, breathing new life into an old, often stale form. As always, expertly penned, Richard.

*smiling at you* ........

Ahhhh where does one begin....
the rhymes divine? the meter and cadence?
Lest not forget the vocabulary lesson you weave among the phrasing and word play ...and one must mention the alliterations you laced thru this gift of pen. As always your poetry leaves the reader impressed.
very well done Poet Sir...methinks your pen will rise to whatever poetic challenge you undertake.

Richard good to see you posting and Lydia would love this!  You should go to jazz bars more often, they seem to inspire your muse beyond belief, and this is proof!  I know that the "muse" is now unleashed and can't want to see what words I don't know next Absoutely wonderful, in the da dum department that is for sure, and only you can make me understand rhyme like that (in other words it makes sense) LOL, great job, now get that pad of paper of yours and pen, and sock it to us!  We are waiting yanno.

Live today like it was your last day on earth!

BRAVO!!! Ooohhhhhhh...this is sooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, the beauty of life exists in the simplest things, and the oxygen lies in the most common gifts of all! (big hugggssssss) I love it, sweet friend, this is absolutely breathtaking! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Richard, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Exceptional! I love the words you used - they don't seem to be in MY muse's vocabulary!

This is exquisite, I enjoy your sonnets SO much. Good to read you again. I haven't written one in a very long time.

Oh terrific... I was looking forward to reading this when I did a smart search for "spenserian" and your name popped up.  I knew you'd treat it well, Mr. Wells, and you certainly did so---

In particular, the closing couplet... just beautiful.  Thanks.
