The Cradle

The cradle that grandpa made,
Each twig he bent with care,
The tree the twigs were taken from,
Was oh, so unaware.

That soon a little one,
An angelic smile on her face,
Would lie upon this cradle dear,
That grandma edged in lace.

Now the twigs grew back
On severed limbs
With leaves all spread about.
Happy to make the sacrifice
And did not feel without.

Floria; This cradle reminds me of the cradle a sweet elderly man made for our first grandchild.  I love to run my hands over the finish of the wood.  Now four precious babes have rested there.  This poem really touched my heart.  Very well written.  Wanda
