Once is Enough
By Larry Chadwick

We’ve got one life,
And that’s enough.
But to do it twice,
Would be so tough.

Don’t get me wrong,
It’s been a blast.
But I’m all through,
When this is past.

Where it was hard,
It would be the same.
Where it was good,
I don’t want to change.

So I’ll take my chances,
On what I’ve lived.
Keep what I’ve got,
And what you did give.

That doesn’t mean,
I’ve done it all right.
Thought you should know,
I’m satisfied tonight.

Like the song goes,
we may lose and we may win
but we will never be here again!
(maybe I'll be a rock star in my next life)

Life is truly our greatest blessing,
so we live and let live and move on!

Very nice Bill. I read  in the paper that a phsychologist asked the question. If there were a pill that would give eternal life on earth to you and your loved ones, would you take it?  Haunting question isnt it? My answer is NO, once around is enough for me. This poem was timely for me, and I love it. floria
