Daytona 500
By Larry Chadwick

Going in circles
Was never profitable to me.
Chasing my tail,
Just wasn’t meant to be.

Somebody figured it out,
And did it with wheels.
Doing it together,
Just to see how it feels.

Measured in laps,
On an oval track.
Hazards a plenty,
Courage, no lack.

Done in the memory,
Of driver number three.
Daytona 500 is run,
For a million point three.

For that kind of money I would
chase my own tail for days,  and take
stock in the prize once I caught hold of it!

Noah,
Now you know. Thanks.

Lori,
A race I would be interested in. LOL thanks.

Victoria,
Or if my wife were racing...I'd feel the same!

Joanna,
You, me and how many others! Thanks.

Sunshine,
It's had some serious losses. Thanks.

Larry,
Enjoyed this very much...
The title caught my eye, especially since I just watched this race ! I Haven't missed watching a race in over FIVE years...

I enjoyed your poem very much, Larry...but I agree with Victoria...I don't think I could handle the worry and the stress if my husband were one of the racers.

Kitty,
That was me...but I couldn't justify the time. Still love to watch occasionally. Especially Talledega and Daytona!

Lyra,
Not even for $1.3 million? lol Thanks.

Larry,

My whole family was all excited today.  LOL.  Everyone was watching the race. I have to confess...  I don't get it.  I guess I don't have to though since I wasn't out there playing bumper cars today *chuckles* (That is what it look like today I've heard)

Hugs,
