A Witness

sobbing, tears of joy
for another
tears of envy, perhaps,too

my glasses
drenched
in tears
slip down
I push them up
dry their surface
yet ponder
the unconditional love
I’ve just seen

though
but a recounting of a memory,
it has blossomed fresh and new
the love your man
holds eternally for you

soggy lenses
drip down my cheeks
as if my eyes
had sprung a forever leak

this love
a golden monument
of truth
petal by petal
wrested with the wind
though spinning
in the commotion
of that which the world
sought to bring, to wring
out of its life
and failing,
beneath its everlasting power
love prevailed,
wind assailed

A very beautiful and insightful piece...

Sometimes it is very tough to experience joy through the eyes of another, especially when that joy is not reflected in our own life, our own mirror.

Wonderfully written. I am wiping my eyes, too.

If you would like to see the poem that inspired this one, try going to:

It's an online poetry class. I'm not certain you can view the poem without registering, but give it a try. If you cannot, let me know, I'll see I can have permission to post it with this piece.

BRAVO!!! Ooohhhhhhh...yes, yes, our heart is our greatest witness other than Him himself, for only we can find true happiness by first loving ourselves and then sharing it with others to open up! (kiss on cheek) This is marvelous, sweet friend, we all love you so much, that on-line poetry class seems intriguing, I'll check it out! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
