For all those who have been the shadow.

You dare to be yourself
and let everyone see.
I envy your brave posture,
so different from me.

I am just a shadow,
there really is no me.
Only in a reflecting pool,
sometimes a glimpse of thee.

Or so it seems this soggy day,
when all I want is to go out and play
in puddles and dance on wet leaves,
wipe off the mud from my sleeves.

A mosquito buzzed past me last night,
looking terribly important and busy,
somewhere to go, something to do.
Buzzed right past, without a bite.

She did not even see me.

Glad I'm not alone on this. When I was little, I really used to think I was invisible.

The shadow? Yes.  The light? Sometimes.

Mosquitos?

Only because they could smell me.

Midnitesun darling girl this is utterly utterly wonderful, you are an absolutely fabulous writer I love the way you’ve constructed this. Well done darling heart as I’m said before YOU dear one are an excellent poet

Invisible yes once I believe I was, then LOVE found me and then my invisibility melted clean away. LOVE is the great healer of all pain, or at least it should be. Wonderful writing utterly wonderful

Love and warm stuff

This poem definitely doesn't hide in the shadow, its posture is upright and confident.  I've definitely dwelled in the shadows myself, so I can relate.  But one benefit of it, no itchy mosquito bites.lol  Very good.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Kacy, I know just how you feel, I too felt I was only a ghost when I was a kid because no one loved me and I was always seen as an also-ran to my dreams and wishes! (kiss on cheek) I think we can all relate to these feelings! We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is wonderful! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Kacy,
When I was in high school...I longed to be invisible. Excellent write.

Well, mosquitos don't bite me, either...and oddly enough, I can relate to taking that personally (rather than just being grateful...lol).

Kacy; You're never invisible when you have that pen in your hand or you're sitting before the computer. :-)  Good poem.  Wanda

Gee Kacy, I hope you don't feel that way now!  You  sure make a difference around here!  You are a great writer and we all love you so much!  For a child to feel invisible is a horrible thought.

Wow. I must not be invisible anymore! Thanks to all who read this, and big hugs to all who could relate to it personally. Larry, I remember wishing I really was invisible once or twice in the past. LOL, once was when I ran a red light and nearly hit a police car in the intersection. He slammed on the brakes and skidded past me with an incredulous look on his face.

It's funny, I remember many times thinking it would be nice to be invisible. But then, when you really want to be seen, and you are not..that is so hard.
Good write Kacy. And the mosquitoes can pass me by anytime, I would be grateful.

Sandra, thanks. It isn't fun to feel invisible, except to the mosquitoes...and maybe the highway patrol and troopers.
