The Rain Tree

split into two
one half bunting alive blue
another sky half ashen with bruised clouds
an eventual combat that heaven tears would win
that's when I heard the cacophony
the aviary riot!
so much din, but without sight to man
oh, but they could hide so well when they wanted
I followed the noise Geiger-counter
to a giant spread-eagle pine
with limbs so dense the other side wasn't seen
petite wrens, minuscule sparrows
they flew out of arguments they could not win
and back into gaps of conversation they could
The Rain Tree
sanctuary from a rage of nimbus fury
they made the arbor breathe with life
I edged closer still
barely visible were two thousand wings inside
the pine:  a 30 foot condo for a 1000 squatters
the Rain Tree finally answered the question
of where feathered kites
go. . .when it rains

Aw Sea, you make me blush dang it!  Funny how we take so many
things for granted, like hearing these guyz, never seeing them before a rain.
My curiosity got the better of me, and i checked them out!  It was a cool
moment, just mesmerized by the fact every one of them was yakking at once.

Vic...how's you tonight?  *s*
couldn't get the image of this whole huge tree, dense with limbs, wavering
with life, although not a single bird was entirely visible.  I got close enough
to see 100's and 100's of them, packed wing to wing on each limb inside of
the tree.  It was something!
Thanks Sweet, and take care!
