On a local bus route the wayfarers go
accumulated history they would not show
battered eyes glare from blood stained sockets
embarrased that it is being looked by seasoned passengers
bible readers with new testaments in the pockets
shout when desperate ethnics pry gifts from empty lockets
motion sickness sway young hooligans with their bottles
wine swishes around in their guts, the driver tries the throttle.
badgered woman wants no more caresses on public transport
her lover massages her thighs only for her quick retort.
on a local bus route wayfarers go
accumulated history they would not show.
Can we avoid noticing the solitude
the anguish, desperation, fear
and lust on bus seats near.

You need a trip to the country...while I am pleased I don't live in the big city...

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Martin, I know just how you feel, I always go up to the Rocky Mountains to escape the anxiety of the city and society, this is a very wonderfully expressive poem! (sigh) We all love you so much, sweet freind, this is fabulous! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martin, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I really enjoyed this one, Martin.  Having grown up in a big city and gone to college in another big city, I am very familiar with public transportation...and the types of people you can run into on the buses and such.
I think you represented it very well!
