Don’t Mess with Sally Jane

When I was a young pup in dungerees
my parents offered some good advice to me
“Don’t mess with Sally Jane I heard them say
She can whop you son, come any ole day”

I thought, “Now I’m a strapping boy of ten
She’d better get up early if she wants to win”
I watched for her as she rode by on her bike
I let out a yell, she nearly died of fright

“Sally Jane, better look out, I’m coming for you”
I heard her laugh and say, “Any day will do
Pupster, you’ll be mush before I’m through;
putting you back together will take some glue”

I went back inside and planned my attack
I’d let her have it, and I wouldn’t hold back
She was the meanest girl in the whole school
There was no way she’d make me look like a fool

I was going to make it better for every guy
I would punch her out and she’d know why
I could hear all the kids giving a loud cheer
That Sally Jane was not anything to fear

I went to school the very next day
I saw seven girls headed my way
In their midst walked a beautiful blonde
She smiled and said, “How you doing Armand”

Now why hadn’t I seen that beauty before
She strutted her stuff right up to the door
I could hear those girls giggling with glee
Then I realized they were laughing at me

The blonde turned and removed her hair
She put some glasses on; I began to stare
She chided, “Oooh, I’m coming for you
Better watch out, never know what I’ll do”

People were laughing all over the school
They were telling how Armand acted like a fool
Sally Jane had managed to best another guy
She’d borrowed her sister’s wig and makeup to apply

I would have been better off to have stayed in bed
then I remembered what my parents had said,
“Don’t mess with Sally Jane,” I had heard them say
“Son, she can whop you any ole day”

Noah; Armand learned his parents had given him rather good advice.  Why is it many of us have to learn through hard lessons?  Poor Armand was "bested" by Sally Jane.:-) Thank you for your comments.  Wanda

Newell; Sally Jane is a figment of my imagination. Of course I have a pretty wild imagination. :-) Thank you for reading and commenting.  Wanda

James Michael; I find your comment "interesting."  Did you find Armand interesting, or did you find Sally Jane interesting? I'm teasing, of course.  Wanda

I ponder exactly what makes Sally Jane the way she is...maybe Armand should take a chance and love her instead!!

Amusemi; One thing we can say about Sally Jane is that she certainly has spirit.  Now a high spirited person is not all bad if you don't get in the way of the spirit. :-) Thank you for your comments.  Wanda
