You would think the logistics
of moving would be so easy.
A, B, C, pack these,
these things will go,
these we must throw,
load up the car
and away we go!
But the reality
is mind boggling
and finger numbing
and it would be easier
to stay put and not go.
But there is a road out there
that clearly has our names on it.
Or was that a cloud of starlight
glowing brightly beckoning us?
The destination is clear,
but how do we get there?
Oh well, we just count
our lucky stars
we know
where
we're
going
and
why.

YEP. I am in the same quandary--but it's exciting, isn't it? And I can't help but wonder where all of the shtuff came from! (Just had a flashback of me in a thrift store, carrying a carved wooden box with a broken hinge, saying..."but I NEED this!")

sigh...I'm going to start in one corner!
and if you've got kids, pack the kitchen last. Okay, I'll shaddup now. (you got me thinking, you did!)

Kacy, this is a great write, but where are you moving to?  ...or are you moving?
Enjoyed your thoughts here.

LOL, Serenity, I know what you mean about the kitchen going last, especially with a teenager. And I understand that thrift store line all to well. I'm a 'keeper' and my daughter is a 'thrower' except for her Breyer horses and horse books and music CD's, she is inclined to throw everything else out without a second thought.
OK folks, the moving is in the earliest stages, since I haven't figured out much of anything except that we will move later this summer from Alaska to Colorado. That's about all I can say for now, but hope to have more details in a few weeks. Probably more poems about lifestyle changes, as well.
I don't look forward to the details, just the destination. The Heart of the Rockies.

First rule of moving:

Garage Sale.  Then...kitchen sale, bedroom sale, den sale, etc. etc.,....

Liked this!

LOL at your moving tips, Sunshine. The last move was from California to Alaska: yard sale, car sale, get to the airport with three or four bags and be gone. Yep, that's exactly how we did it, only three weeks after deciding to move.
