  ~ ~ Unbearable Ache ~ ~

O, but the ache is unbearable
for joy, for love, what man must endure
to consume all goodly nourishment in the name of need
to take bravely the pike as its thrust deep
into the yieldly pink flesh that is so mortal
that insulation we take for granted when all is well
that coverlet that bruises and scars at other's will
there are no medicines
for this melancholy
no sleep without a resolution
no peace without an answering reply to the agony
daily I live with this familiarity of awareness
shall I turn my head and ignore what I know is true?
but I cannot - the suffering is intolerable
it shouts afoul with infliction of every nerve in my body

and if I don't get to a Dentist soon
   I will surely
SCREAM!

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the emotion in this one, SR....it is so beautifully written and filled with so much pain that it leaps from between the words.
I especially loved the surprise ending!
Now go and get thyself to a dentist...fast!

ShadowRider.
this touched a nerve all the way through and then it was as if I had been given Nitros Oxide. Good , clever write.

Oooooh, the agony of this poem. :-) You certainly know how to end a poem. I am still chuckling.  Wanda

P.S.  I do hope you have seen a dentist.
