The parade began with fanfare
colorful displays of red and blue
held tightly against your chest
my back was turned to you

The color guard passed us by
drums beat rhythms measure
alone in a the crush of many
this day became our treasure

And then I saw him standing
on the other side of the route
his body wavering in the sun
his face diffused with doubt

His tattered suit hung open
to reveal a stained white shirt
his pants, pinstripe worn to the nub
were wrinkled, lined with dirt

Hair no longer chestnut hued
he was a grey man fading away
a wraith in the shadows of a crowd
anathema to the day

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Sharon, this is soooooooo heartbreaking, my heart cries out to this poor man and I hope that someone reached out to him through the crowd and kept him company and love he needs so much! (wipes tears) So sad but beautiful, sweet friend, my thoughts are with him always, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Thank you so much for replying. This was NOT really from real life..just a challenge phrase from someone. And I wasn't at Mardi Gras...never been, but I hear it's a lot of fun.

even in the midst of revelry. . . there is sadness. . . and we must wonder why. . .for, as always, there cannot be one without the other. . .

well done my friend. . . you do bring it to life. . .

Sharon l always wanted to go too. Just another one of those dreams. You know from this, and my own strange brain, I saw death hovering at the corners of the crowd. Looks like no one else saw that!
Interesting, well done.
