I'm forever stepping on eggshells.
At least, that's how it often seems.
Crunching, crushing Life along the way,
sometimes tearing it at the seams.
But each step takes me closer
to a mysterious beckoning place,
and all along the way I feel the
heartbeats of the human race.
I hear some crying in pain and suffering,
and see others laughing with carefree face.
But each step takes me deeper within
the heartbeat of the human race.
And it seems no matter which way I step
or upon which foot I might lead,
the steps that bring me into harmony
are the ones that guide me to care,
and to take heed of other's needs.
For caring about others
and sharing the inner soul
is not an unattainable goal.
The eggshells in the pathway
are just stepping stones
that are leading me
to the Whole.

Midnitesun,

i liked your title a lot..it practically pulled me to read this piece...

i must say that this was different from what i expected..i was expecting something about how life forever drags you down and how one must tread carefully, or else he would be dealt blows by Life again.

forgive my imagination this was a good read nonetheless and i thought this was very inspirational sentiments...

Thanks friends. I used to be afraid to share my inner thoughts, but this site has helped me overcome that extreme shyness. You have all given me so much encouragement that now I can't put down the pen for more than a few days at a time, and sharing seems to be so pleasantly natural.
Heng, I think many people would agree with what you said the POV the title suggested, as I would probably have read it that way myself in the past. I like to try and understand Life in 3D.

BRAVO!!! Oh Wanda, you always write so wonderfully, this is so powerfully expressed and deep down I know there will come a day when each of us finds the true yolk of life and all the harmony and love our hearts desire! (kiss on cheek) Such wisdom flows from your quill, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Personally, I'd rather be stepping on grapes.  At least I may end up with wine.  Eggshells, all you're gonna get are smelly feet.  Wanda?  No, doesn't fit ya.  lol

Duncan, you have me laughing now. It's too early for a glass of wine. Have you ever stomped grapes? You end up with purple feet. LOL, I think I'll stick to the eggs for breakfast, and maybe go make an omelette.

Newell, I just might have to blush after your reply. This one wrote itself in a way. The thoughts popped into my mind, and I just wrote them down. A couple of minor line adjustments and voila, a new poem.

Yes, they are just stepping stones to get to the "whole" so step away, great wisdom in this Kacy.  Liked it a ton.

hey girl!! i walked on eggshells for so many years, i'm still picking up the fragments in the carpet!!! but this piece... this is really really cool!! you go from the negative of walking on eggshells and the crumbling of it all to not only picking up the pieces, but assembling them into reassurance, respect, insight, understanding.....

this is a fine piece of work and i loved the way you moved it from one level of struggle to the next, of love and appreciation and fruition!

i applaud you!

Dor, I love your reply! You are so totally cool. (We should all dance on eggshells one of these nights, while serenity stirs up a cauldron of poetic inspiration maybe? It would be such fun!)

I like your courage. It has been my experience, that it is not worth the effort as those shells leave more cuts and bruises than some hearts can bear. But I was blessed by your hopefulness! Nice write.

Yep, some days it feels like we can’t do anything right.  I swear me and Dor were married to the same guy, because it also reminded me of life around my ex-husband…and the reason why he’s my ex!! But I’m now single again…yeah…freeeeeedooooom!!! I love it again!!! Lol.

Pearls, there is always hope, and I believe each eggshell was put before me for a reason, not by coincidence or chance.

Sy, you made me happy with that reply. *sigh*

Tracey, LOL, have you and Dor compared the mugshots and assorted sordid details? Freedom, to choose again, is really a wonderful gift.
