the Fifth Season

You have to wade deep into the surreal
to even taste just a morsel
of the live electrical wire
Oh, I bit it hard enough to leave teethprints
It was more sweltering than summer
more fresh scented than any spring
I couldn't taste the acrid ice of winter
or exposed more by the brittleness of fall
I was in the Fifth Season
a small patch of sky to look forward to
one that only insinuated itself on rare occasions
when one was not watching the kettle boil
a private interlude where only you are there
and no amount of wishing wanting and hurry-up
can make it either go away, or make sense

the in-between, the middle between the mid, and the dull
when reality was exchanged for some private Metropolis madness
a day when Fritz Lang or Warhol made sense
hours when clock batteries run out of current
its hands clapping on the 13th hour in static applause

It was not a good place to be:
to instinctively know the value of X.
There was not much left to do
except pull the quilt over my head
hoping that Autumn or Solstice
would juxtapose itself between
myself and the Fifth season

and I waited
   . . . waited
                                                                             and waited

I love it even if I didn't understand it all.
so what else is new?
Interesting collaboration of thoughts,
especially the waiting for my favorite season.
I need to chill out.....bad!!

You ain't the only one, Sister, who needs some serious chill time!  Had my
doors blown off in reality a few times in the past weeks.
Actually, LA, this was about that awkward time in living, when we are between
what we WANT to feel, and what is happening to us.
Like waiting for a season to take away the uneasiness.  But also, there is some
clarity in seeing things in a different light, even if its not comfortable.  Hence:
the Fifth Season.  That state of being where we don't even know ourselves,
or know what will happen next.
Awww....i am so glad you read this, tho, and it made me smile!
Hang in there, LA.   Life is too good to be sad.
All my best to you
and soft thanks,
tSR

You need some time to just go fishing.
I really adored this poem, SR....Having been through many fifth seasons, I know those moments well, and you have portrayed them brilliantly.

a small patch of sky to look forward to
one that only insinuated itself on rare occasions
when one was not watching the kettle boil
a private interlude where only you are there
and no amount of wishing wanting and hurry-up
can make it either go away, or make sense

These are the special moments.

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh my gosh, I've had this kind of feeling before too, sometimes I feel I'm in no season at all but rather in my own private space betwixt each every other season! (sigh) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is fabulous! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
