That’s All I Know

Each dawn begins with purple skies
Each evening bathed in lullabies
Some days bring joy and some bring strife
And that is what I know of life

I see reflected in one’s eyes
The light of truth, the blink of lies
In eyes of elderly or youth
And that is what I know of truth

I’ve manned the helm upon a sea
With no direction given me
Not one kind soul was standing near
And that is what I know of fear

I lost the best and felt the worth
Of what was lost upon the earth
But in the end I know the best
Is understanding spirit’s quest

The light of God shines on my face
He taught me all I know of grace
The time is near my final breath
And that is all I know of death

I’ve opened up my spirit’s door
In verses etched forevermore
I’ve told the truth for all to see
That’s all I know of poetry

My book may well remain untouched
Stored in a box in attic’s must
Forgotten on a dusty shelf
But I was always true to self

The deeds I’ve done, the seeds I’ve sewn
That is the life I’ve always known
The dreams we wasted that were ours
That’s all I know of moon and stars

(sigh) So sad but beautiful, sweet friend, we may lose so many dreams but promises will forever radiate in the tears we cry and they will reflect the moonlight and jewels of happiness will fill all our hearts! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, your words are always pure jewels to us all! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

I like what you wrote and all that you know,
especially these lines ~~~

I’ve opened up my spirit’s door
In verses etched forevermore
I’ve told the truth for all to see
That’s all I know of poetry

What Doreen said, and also the wisdom you share of love, and life will also withstand time as will your poetry.  Oh I am so proud to know you little Lizzie

Truly, truly, in all you know
you still have set a heart to glow
you've given more than ever known
and in your poetry, I have grown...

Thank you Lady Santos, for all you'll ever be,
a poetess uncommon, a gift, to me

The Queen of rhyme and meter. A true pleasure to read and experience.  Excellent poetry, as you have repeatedly shared with us mere mortals.

All I know is what I see
And, when I see your rhyme,
I know I see one of the greatest
Poets of my time.

I know I see a woman who
Will always, in my mind,
Produce the finest poetry
That I will ever find.

So thank you, Liz, for all you do
And how your poems flow.
I feel blessed to read the words
Of everything you know.
