Hmm..I'm not sure what exactly you had in mind for this poem, but this is what it made me think of.

I was thinking of when someone does indeed ask you what you want (as if they really want to know and are prepared to hand it to you)and you tell them...and for some reason you can't have it. Is this instance what you meant?

Boy, do I know this! Of course the immediate and age old response is "then why did you ask?"

I think I shall point more, even though I was always told "not to point"...perhaps its time to break that rule...
