State of Suspended Passion

For my Valentine, M

***************************************************
Although I have been blessed with words,
My Love,
the desire to express them all at once
makes my tongue trippy when they tumble out.
If I had to give great speeches in front of crowds
I confess I could not do it
although I would love to proclaim loudly
the truth of my devotion to you.
As we are apart I, with smile resting on pondering palms
confront the fact that you cannot be here
to claim the prize of your kiss.
Every scent I breathe in reminds me of you
although we have not yet experienced any scent together
but that of papers and packages that journeyed the miles
to be in the rightful ownership of our hearts and hands.
I had so much in mind to send you this day
picturing me, busily in love's kitchen
making fudge shaped hearts homemade style
and staining each one with the kiss
of perfection meant especially for the man you are.
Cookies and candies and even silly notions
from my personal stash of "me" items
came briefly in my mind to lick stamps for;
but I came close to none of that
as time, as it does, was a spoiled and demanding child.
So here I am with pen in hand
and a paper for its pleasure
wondering what to say to you
about the joy that you have caused in my life.
What follows is not perfection
but the only way I know of appreciating you in truth.

When first your voice graced my ears
the lips of joy removed me from this physical world
and I began my captivity in the waves of your person
and although I do not swim so strongly
I cared not if I drowned in the taste of your love
for in drowning within you, I died
and came back as a friendly spirit of joy
destined to haunt you as my one and only.

The Sunshine I had blocked for so long
became my companion once again
instead of my enemy as it had been for years.
I, Moonlight welcomed the embrace of light.

In closing, my dear Sunshine
I want to say that I sense a new direction for us.
All I can give you for Valentines day is truth
as we have held so high within our love from the first breathe of it
From here I sense our path will grow differently
for turning points have made that easy to see
and I would ask but one thing of you before the next stages begin

By day I would hold the honor of being your Sunflower
if you, my Sunshine, so graciously allowed my direction
to be that in which you walk.
I want to turn my head when you stroll by
and follow your movements with a gaze enrapt in passion.
I want to stretch my neck to see how close
I am drawn to the warmth and desire
of the passion you always seem to lead me with.
Whisper on me now as my body trembles in the wind of faithfulness
and I will watch you have my will entangled within your beams
because as the Sunflower who follows her Sunshine
I will reap the rewards from the light of your heart.
I will always be looking up as long as you are there
and I will always be in amaze of your presence.

May I be your Moonlight?
could I be your love?
May I be your Sunflower
heart lifted above?

Will you be my Valentine
and make this dear heart smile
Can I be the soul of you
speak softly through the miles?

Sleep softly, Valentine
and let your mind dine on dreams of me
as I am now permanent art
in your the world of your devotion.

"My ears have not yet drunk a hundred words
Of that tongue’s uttering, yet I know the sound:" "Romeo and Juliet"

It's not long, my dear. It's perfect. In length and in feeling.

I felt the warmth of your words wash over me,
reminding me that love is real and that it exists....
and that it will eventually come to those who wait.

What a prize your poem is Siofra~

Siofra, you have captured the essence of love and drew this reader in to the very last word - too long you say - I wished it had gone on.  Great poem and congratulations on your 400th posting as well.

I am indeed speechless.  This is the most amazing piece that has ever come from your pen, full of love, life and promise.  Who could say no??

Happy Valentine's Day my friend.  The Sun awaits.

Thank you.

Wow, it's like a masterpiece! I'm going to copy it to my comp.
