Listening to every heart

The Soul of a Poet

Mayhap it shall come to me, in lightest gay,
the heart of a bard to induce my say,
through tales of old, of other days,
a recitation may come this way

Perchance an elegy I shall write
the loss of dear ones numerous
my lament and grief, both day and night,
‘tho I shan't write o’er the loss of us

To honor Theocritus I would pen
an idyllic scene to suit the when
that life was pure and fine of flair,
and I would give it a pastoral air

If to be a lyrist of lyre and pen
would I gain your heart, and then
would you sing fine songs with me
and join in an absolute harmony

Or in silence of a moment, to muse,
and then to be so joyfully enthused
by the promise of your words to bring
a song to my heart, that we might sing

Maybe for me the life of a trouvère
and to pen with Parnassian flair
thus how to capture one poet’s glance,
to pen by chance an Elysian dance

To seize the heart of one who would pen,
the poet, the bard, a muse, to spend
a night, a day, to master the write,
this my wish, and my dream held tight

For the soul of a poet, I would endure
that the heart of a soul I would ensure

Yeah, she's getting kind of good ins't she oh just kidding!  Now if there were anyone with more of poet's soul - let them come forth now and take your crown.  Beautiful my friend.

This is a lovely write in its entirety, Sunshiny one - The final couplet, though, is my favorite...

Yes, RosePetal, I thought the last two lines said it all, too, but sometimes we have to get through the weeds to find the Rose...

And thank you Nancy, for being such an awesome reader!...

Noah, I think one of the kindest ways to reply, is to pick out the favorite lines you've found in a poem, and to share them back...thank you!

Magnus, you bare your soul quite well, and in doing so, become very human, and very much a poet of note...

Gen[Dave]Xer...mastered the write? Not yet, but working on it! You're kind to say so...keep watching! I might surprise you one day, and really knock your socks off...

'Deer, a compliment like that from you means much...but I know I have a way to go yet...

Mysteria, you've stuck that "crown" on my head so tightly I fear my braids won't let loose...LOL...where WERE you in my childhood!? [I think there's another poem in there...] thank you, my dear, for being such a kind and generous friend...

Duncan, indeed, there is a price...thank you!...

Wanda, how nice of you to say so.  I hope you enjoy your forays into our Passionate Blue pages...

Thank you Cat...you've been writing some pretty awesome stuff yourself, recently...

Interloper, the land of the green will call again, I feel some Celtic on the breeze...

Martie, since you ARE my muse, you can see her ANYTIME!...

Nan...see what you've taught me? The whole poem may suck saltwater, but if you have one couplet that sinks the ship, use it!  Hugs...

Hoot, and just think, I've never even BEEN to Texas!  Thank you dear...you've been missed...so good to have you back!...

Startime, I think some days this heart will explode with the poetry that wants out...thank you for acknowledging that...and thank you all for reading!
