You came to me  - a tiny scrap of pure humanity
how could  I know way back then that you would set me free
you gave in loving kindness, light and warmth - a new start
now that you are here to stay, see footprints in my heart

you came as soft as springtime  you lifted me in hope
you gave of everything you had to help me stand and cope
could I have known so long ago how much your love imparts
I would have been more prepared for footprints in my heart

we travelled on together your light mixed with my dark
how could I have ever known you'd make my life less stark
as love and light mingled in - the stars stood in awe at art
you were the one who freed my soul - left footprints in my heart

Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds
but I can face the future with courage brave and bold
for you have shown the better way to learn and make new start
and echoes of your strength remains as footprints in my heart

I can be moving forward - can pass the joy along
because of all you are and do - when singing your hearts song
so thank you love for all the gifts your loving heart imparts
Now I can risk another love and leave footprints in their heart.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Ah...those footprints do bring sometimes wistful reminders. It's amazing how many people leave footprints in our hearts and how much those little traces can teach us.

God!, Kethry, this one is beautiful... left me speechless.... left my a ball of gooo on the carpet..... and my immediate thought was not of my husband but my 11 year old son, Sean.  He taught me how to laugh and how to lighten up.... and how not to be shy.

He messed up the whole place and left footprints in my heart.... Then he taught me how to clean my house.... LOL

Cherish the good memories past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow.
But above all... be kind to yourself today.

Keth - Beautiful write.  I must ask is this about the love for another, or about love that you found in God.  I think it can be interpreted either way.  Of course, this is from a man that wears cleats when walking on hearts.lol

Thanks everyone,
the funny thing about this poem is that I wrote it for no one in particular...except for Mushy who inspires mnost of my work with her throw away lines. However my children all  think it's a mother to child thing and some lines definitely imply that. My friends think it a lover thing and my fellowship thinks it's a God thing so take your pick. I think they are all correct a little.

Keth darling heart sister and holder of the stars light, you know what I said when I first read this, BUT since no one else was privy to our conversation I’ll repeat it again. This is seriously excellent writing, the flow of this is perfect, the internal pace and the construction cannot be bettered. This would be good writing with just that alone, what raises it to great writing is the way it reaches within to stir the soul of the reader. As I’ve said and so many times I’ve lost count you are a great writer. Still reiteration is always a good thing except when it is used as reasoned argument, so in this case it is allowable.

This is truly etched in my heart and into my library with you. And don’t think just because you write such beauty I shall forget that you promised me you’d stop flying so far ahead of me I won’t.

Hi Keth this is Krissy (Mushy’s daughter). I’m not sure which poem you’ll see the reply on first so I’ve left the introduction on this too. Now this is one of the reasons I begged to join. This is the most heart-stoppingly beautiful poem I’ve ever read. I know you’re a talented writer, mum has let me browse in the archives, so I’ve read loads of your poems.  Mum said you were talented and she’s not often wrong and definitely not in your case. I agree with her, which obviously goes to prove we both have great taste. wide grin

You have written this beautifully, this has the flow of water over glass, as smooth as silk. YOU really are an exceptional writer. And this is an exceptional poem definitely a superbly crafted delight. This really is something special
