[This is my sincere Valentine for my Wife, Linda]

I wish that I could say
That You were always so
Yet that's really not the way
That our Life has unfolded.
Yet Life in reality
Could never be bested
By imaginary scripting
or wishful revampings of truth.

Our meeting was casual--
Not extraordinary
Practical, and surely
Not spectacular--
But yet it was the beginnings
Of something which we could not
then fathom.

At first your kind attentiveness
Your simple friendly smile
Your willingness to be seen
With the likes of me
Was your calling card.

Not as one so perfect
But with comfortable commonness as myself
But with a different and special spark
Which helped set you apart.

Soon it igniteed to a flame
Love passion all enamoured
an all consuming fire
I witnessed the magnitism of yourself
As a helpless yet yielding metalic clump.

Even then, I could not say
You were what I now know.
The honing of these many years
Much like the refiner's fire
Has of late revealed to me
The beauty that you've become
From that one time Diamond in the rough.

For you've transformed before my eyes
In to a Vision of Loveliness
That I never would have dreamed of seeing.
But like the aging of a fine wine
To me, that's what you've become.

For surely through three decades
I have put you through many things
I've loved you and tried your patience
And I've made my share of bungling things
Some of which, my folly brought to you
Those Niagra's which I was powerless to contain--
But with time,Thank God we've passed all that
And still it's me that you love.

And though our Love's expression
Has dramatically changed o'er the years
I hope you know that I love you, too.
You are truly my life's greatest personal blessing.

Who has changes as if from a country bumpkin
Into my Vision of Loveliness,
Who could have guessed such a transformation
As the catapillar to butterfly
You've captured my heart's eye
And with Pride, I acknowledge
The Beauty you have become--
Yea, now and forever--
My Vision Of Loveliness!

Dear David; Linda is surely blessed with such love and devotion! You forgot to mention that she is loved by a poet who writes beautiful poetry to her too! Hugs, Ellie
