Mike is that 'underground' metaphorically or an actual underground city?

It's real. Seattle is a study in hubris. The original city planners never thought of trying to put the sewer lines above sea level. Hence, when there was flooding, it made it into the toilet, too. The way to combat this was to build a second story on top of the first, then cover over the mistake. Hence you have Seattle proper, then you have Seattle underground -- usually used for storage, garbage and other awful things. It's kinda sad when you think about it.

Oh, and Ron, your memory's fine. For a while, I was planning to move to Seattle. Hence I know too much of its history.

I'm the type that prefers rain and woods, that's why.

from Liz's comment...

"Seems the colder things are
the deeper they burn"
she said meaning more
than the years should have told her
and less than the total of what she felt

I have seen the burn of ice on skin
cold air massed on fields stripped bare
and the flames of all that changed
in one frigid stare
                     "I don't care"

a deeper burn when hearts find winter
and even the frost is chilled
by passing neglect
                  indifference
distilled
to a few short words
                or the look away
a shrug
                   half stilled

Deeper still?
               to a core of soul
alone not guessing to understand
the emptiness
                the void to fill

where is worth in such climes
as would make this your words brittle
and fall
        broken shatter
                to melt
as they should have melted
in my heart

I knew that comment would do something...

I am angry with the blindness of people. nothing more. I have friends and people who love me. I don't need people who don't want me.

I suppose if you want to put it that way
the world would be such a boring place to play
if all the thoughts we captured in our heads
we denied existance, simply left for dead
perhaps I bend them just a bit
sometimes turning out worthless chit
others I seem to hear with more
than empty ears behind closed doors
play yourself with just a phrase
you might find in the end....
             it helps the craze

Mike would love to see or photgraph it though. Toronto has an underground city of sorts strip malls and theatres from subway to subway station and access to apartment buildings. it spans the entire downtown core so really you'd never have to walk outside again in your life. Kind of cool notion kinda creepy too. There's also an abandoned subway station/line..

Liz..a mystery? me? nah... just an old fool... of no consequence nor worth the time to figure out. Think of me as the court jester with a sardonic sense of humor and little to back it up....

the real mystery.... is why people who you say don't want you are so upsetting to you... don't want you is a bit vague and has an ominous tone...

I pity them. They are easily changed and it makes me sad. this boy used to be my friend but some girl came along and he lost himself. I can't help it. the other people told me how rude he was and....I'm losing myself...

train of thought has wandered.

losing yourself?
Liz... we are constantly losing and finding ourselves it seems.. we lose ourselves in the action of others, in wanting to hold what we can not, wanting to have back what we lost, always we want... always we need.. and always we re-invent ourselves... knowing that what was lost may never return yet capturing some piece of it and of ourselves to freeze in a moment of understanding...

losing yourself because someone turns there back on you..is hard.. a part of us wants to hold onto the things we had with that person, and yet, if we stand still, if life stands still and nothing changes, we all end up the same color inside.. and no one grows to understand..

loss... sounds to me as if it is his loss and you are just sad he doesn't see it...

hugs my friend.. for all the rainy days and all the clouds that keep you from smiling.

now I'll go play somewhere else before I bore you all to death..lol...
